The Big Lunch

Your invitation to THE BIG LUNCH

Sunday 18th July

on Amis Way/Wordsworth Ave green area

Last year nearly a million people met to celebrate the Big Lunch across the UK, making communities feel closer. Sunday 18th July is a day of rest, a day for family and friends, a day with stacks of daylight and the weekend before most schools break up.
  • Most importantly, bring along your own food and drink, and mix with others on your street
  • Bring cushions, stools, chairs, picnic blankets… lug a sofa out!
  • Bring gazebos, parasols and tarpaulins
  • Get the kids to organise games & activities – boules, juggling balls, hoop-la
  • If anyone plays a musical instrument, provide some peaceful relaxing background music
  • Remember to bring along a trash-sack for your rubbish, and recycle your empties
  • Perhaps we can go “on tour” to the other Big Lunch groups on Trinity Mead?
We’re setting up our picnic blanket (and possibly gazebo) on the grass by the conker tree, next to the fenced-in playground from about 12 noon. Anyone want to join us? And, if it rains, well just remember it rarely rains all day in July and might be quite refreshing!

Residents have reported appearances of Bats on the Trinity Mead Development and have remarked on how fascinating these little creatures are.

There is also the website for The Warwickshire bat group http://www.warksbats.co.uk. To record a bat siting you need to fill out the record entry form on the website.

For those interested in this Compton Verney holds Bat Watch Nights with two coming up in September  - children welcome.

Coming Soon – New Event!

If you like to walk or run or stroll with other people this weekly event may be for you!  But, there is more to it than that.  Maybe you have a baby or toddler in a pushchair, or older children, who enjoy an outing?  Or maybe you have a dog that enjoys a walk in the company of others?

Coming soon, probably on a Wednesday evening, round about 6.15pm we are going to meet at the entrance to the Rec and split into the relevant groups for a gentle stroll and chat, or a heart pumping run, or an amble with our four footed friends – whatever your style, there’s bound to be someone else of the same mind.

A lovely way to get 45 minutes exercise and to do it in good company – but, it gets better!  How about finishing up at the Tramway for an orange juice or something a little bit stronger?  If there weather is nice the garden will be perfect for us all, whatever our age or how ever many legs we have! A great opportunity to make new friends and still be back home by 7.45 if you need to.

To register your interest please email Rachel at rachelandbronte@gmail.com so we can get an idea of which group you are likely to enjoy and also be able to let you know where and when we will be meeting for the first time.

If I want something fixed where do I go?

Although this Association is all about building a stronger community obviously, from time to time, you may need to contact someone to get something fixed.

Maybe the street lamps near you aren’t working, the hedges need cutting, there is an abandoned car in your street or you want an update on the Road Adoption issue.

Clearly we, the Committee, are not qualified to provide answers to these questions, so I have added a page with contact details of County, District and Town Councillors so that you can go direct to them for help.

The page is titled Local Issues – if you hover your mouse over the About Us tab at the top of the page you will see Local Issues in the drop down menu – click on that.

Alternatively, you can access the page by clicking on Local Issues in the left hand menu.

Kate Rolfe, our local councillor, has been incredibly helpful in setting up this Association and she is always delighted to help people if they contact her directly with their Local Issue questions.
