Trinity Mead Theatre Club

The dark evenings will soon be closing in so how about visiting the theatre with some friends and neighbours to look forward to?

Some people have already signed up to the Theatre Club, but in case this might take your fancy, below are some options for Autumn Theatre Visits.

Locally in Stratford Cox’s Yard, the Tread the Boards Theatre Company bring their chilling production to the Attic Theatre, Cox’s Yard £9 (7.50 conc) on Friday 29 October 2010, 7:30pm:

OR if that’s a bit too dark for you, at The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry, The English Touring Theatre & Traverse Theatre Company, Edinburgh present, from 09 october 2010 – 23 october 2010, Tickets: £6.50 – £13, Evenings: 7pm:

The Three Musketeers and the Princess of Spain

Written by Chris Hannan

Paris is being terrorised by the evil Cardinal and a monstrous creature who suffers from serious mood-swings! The young sword-fighter D’Artagnan finds himself on an epic quest to save the city – and a pregnant Princess – but he will need the help of the Three Musketeers. Rumour has it they’ve gone to seed, gone past their sell-by date and gone into hiding.

So can he track them down in time to save the day?

Based on the iconic characters created by Alexandre Dumas, this hilarious, anarchic and utterly thrilling new production promises an unforgettable journey into enchanted forests, over lost streams and around REALLY horrible baddies, as we cheer our hero D’Artagnan and heroine Constance to a victorious end.

Featuring a dash of live music and a hefty dose of laughter, The Three Musketeers and the Princess of Spain is a wonderfully surreal re-imagining of these classic stories of friendship, love and identity. Oh…and baby-eating monsters!

Also at the Coventry Belgrade Theatre from 18 november 2010 – 20 november, 7.45pm, Fri & Sat evenings: Tickets: £8.50, £13.50 & £17, The Propeller Theatre Company presents:

Richard lll

Internationally acclaimed all-male company, led by Director Ed Hall, Propeller is renowned for combining a rigorous approach to the text with an exciting, physical aesthetic to engage its audience’s imagination and bring fresh understanding to classic plays. It’s Shakespeare rediscovered.

Richard III brings the War of the Roses cycle of history plays to a close in bloody fashion. Arguably Shakespeare’s most villainous King, we watch in horror and delight as Richard murders his way to the throne, unable to resist his cruel wit and dark humour.  This is a hugely entertaining and diabolical adventure that tells the story of one man’s journey to heaven, then back to hell.

Theatre Club

To tempt the taste buds of those of you who are thinking about joining the Theatre Club, here are some links to what is on at various theatres in the autumn.  If you like the look of something, why not leave a comment and we can gauge where people’s interests lie.

Belgrade Theatre, Coventry

The RSC, Stratford upon Avon

Comedy at Cox’s Yard, Stratford upon Avon

Cox’s Yard does apparently do plays sometimes, but their What’s On only covers August at the moment and the Autumn program for the RSC is listed yet either.

If you want to be included on the theatre list, please send an email through the ‘Contact Us’ tab.  If you have already expressed interest your name will be on the list.

Theatre Club

Due to residents’ interest there is now a Theatre Club!  Sometimes people need a bit of encouragement to make a booking and sometimes there are single people who simply don’t fancy going on their own.

We have great theatres here in Stratford, but we also have easy access to Coventry, Belgrade Theatre and to Birmingham.

If you would like to join the theatre list then please express your interest in the usual way by leaving a comment or sending an email through the ‘contact us’ page.

Furthermore, if there are productions that you think would be of interest then please leave a comment telling us about them.

Like our other clubs, this is not simply a club you join up for and everything is done for you.  They operate by everyone taking part by making suggestions and taking it in turn to organise.  So please come on and get involved – it will be fun!
