Armscote Manor Lecture Series

Every year Armscote Manor puts on a series of Lectures, featuring Gardens and Gardening, in aid of the charity Shipston Home Nursing.  These are always beautifully presented in the ambient surroundings of the barn at Armscote Manor.  To download the brochure please click on the Downloads tab and scroll down to the Lecture Series entry.  If you then click on the link the brochure will download to your desktop.

The evenings start at 7pm with a glass of wine and the lectures begin at 7.30pm during the week of 11 October and tickets cost £14.  You will have to pre-book as tickets are not sold at the door. You can download an order form from the website here.

Whichford Pottery will be selling their wonderful pots and gifts as usual and launching a new pot to their extensive range.  Bob Brown will  be bringing along interesting plants  for sale, Tom Walton will be exhibiting some of his innovative garden furniture designs and Chris Brown will be available to discuss any plant and garden design requirements you may have.  Rupert Wyles of Bablake Wines has once more been very generous and donated a glass of wine to all the guests.  Gardens Illustrated and Warwickshire Preview have also donated copies of their wonderful magazines.

If you are a hands-on gardener or the armchair version these soirees are not to be missed!

Draft Allotment Policy

Sarah Summers, Town Clerk of Stratford Town Council has furnished us with the draft Allotment Policy approved by the GP Committee and the draft policy is now officially out for consultation. If you are interested in having an allotment, then I strongly suggest you read the draft Allotment Policy and have your say by either leaving a comment below or contacting Sarah Summers direct.

She has asked if we would read it and would be grateful if she could have our responses as soon as possible.  The matter will be brought to the Town Council Meeting on 21 September, 2010 and it is hoped that soon after the policy will be presented to the District Council with a recommendation that it be adopted as supplementary planning guidance.  This, of course, is subject to the consultation response.

To access the Draft Policy go to the ‘About Us’ tab at the top of the page – you will then get a drop down menu – hover your mouse over ‘Local Issues’ which will produce another menu – click on on ‘Allotments’.

Garden Share - Garden Available

Here is our first opportunity!

A householder on Trinity Mead has a piece of garden that she would like someone to come and grow some veggies on.  As allotments are very difficult to come by this is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic grower to come and use this piece of garden.

If anyone is interested will they please

email Michael

Michael Rolfe is one of the Garden Share Team. Alternatively you can call him on 01789 550624

Garden Share

If you would like to grow some vegetables this summer and you live in a flat or your own garden isn’t big enough then check out the Garden Share, organised by Transition Stratford.  You will find it either in the Left column or under Clubs and Garden Club at the top of the page.

Or if you have your name down for an allotment, why not take advantage of this project until you get your allotment!
